Elbert Whitefield discusses his experiences on the first year project “Stations.” He was a bit nervous during the video interview but an informative dialog into the life of a Bemis Newbie.
Hampton University is an HBCU (Historically Black College and University) located in Hampton, Virginia. The Department of Architecture at Hampton University is one of only two schools of architecture in Virginia to have a NAAB accredited first professional degree architecture program. The 5 year Bachelor of Architecture was just changed to the 5 1/2 year Master of Architecture (first pro degree).
The University was established in 1868 and the architecture program was one of the first in the nation. The program places a large emphasis on under-represented communities, study abroad, and the theory + research intensive thesis program.
